Appearence
The family Dendrobates, are relativilely small frogs.
The creatures are very colorful and pretty active.
The legs are very thin.

Even well this species does not belong to this family,

Epipedobates Tricolor is a good startes frog; cheap and easy.
They are all poisenous frogs so wash your hands after handling.
They are found in Zuid-America.
Cage demands
Use a 50x40x40 cm or 19x15x15 inches paludarium, for a couple (2 frogs).
Males are aggresive agianst other males,
and females aggresive agianst females.
Ecspecially when the frogs have just lain their eggs.
Combining is not an option, This is harmeful for both the frogs and the other species.
The floor must be coverd with ground from the woods, which is moist but not soacked.
Place a few living plants inside the paludaria, Bromelia are most suiteable.
Spray every day shortly with luke water, containing minerals.
Remember, a large piece has to be water.
Tempeture: 23 celcius or 73 fahrenheit. at night: 20 celcius or 68 fahrenheit. Epipedobates Tricolor: 21 celcius or 70 fahrenheit. at night 19 celcius or 66 fahrenheit.
Feeding
Crckets, common house flyes, fruit flyes.
Enrich these preys by powdering them with mineralssupplements, like the spraywater.
Difference in gender
Females are slightly bigger.
Sometimes males have mating pillows, or a bigger third too.
Mating and reproduction
Every species has its own "matingsound",
Which indicates for the opposite sexe that they are mature.
Enlarge the RV to recreate the raining sesion.
A favorite place for the female to lay her eggs in is the Bromelia,
but also suitable places are: small bowls of water or the plastic containers for camerafilms.
After the eggs are lain the male will go to them and vertulize them.
Don't touch the eggs, until they have hatched and they have been carried by (useally) the mother to the water.
Once in the water they can be removed using a liquior glass.
Feed the small frogs the same as the adults, and/or chopped tubifex, and wurms.
